Our impact

Swisscontact implements 139 projects in 41 countries around the world. We measure and ensure sustainable impact through our proprietary Monitoring and Results Measurement System (MRM). It meets the international DCED standard and allows for actionable insights and quality assurance.

Digitalization
We leverage the potential of new technologies to improve education and training and enable our local partners to improve the quality of their services.
Economic Empowerment
We develop tomorrow’s workforce by strengthening people’s skills and employability, enabling them to secure their livelihoods and participate actively in society and the economy. We do this by drawing on our many years of experience and our holistic approach to labour market insertion.
Climate Change
We foster green skills and practices, which results in regenerative food systems, a circular economy and the transformation of green cities. This reduces negative impacts on the climate, while increasing food security.

We are a proud nominee for the P3 Impact Award. This partnership between the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Partnerships (GP), Concordia, and the University of Virginia Darden School Institute for Business in Society honours our leading public-private partnership in Ukraine, which equips the workforce with essential skills to advance the country's recovery.

EdUP champions the power of partnerships on a global level 
In the midst of conflict, when the very fabric of society is tested, the resilience of communities often hinges on the power of partnerships. Nowhere is this more evident than in Ukraine. The ongoing war has destroyed, among others, the nation's vocational education and training (VET) sector. The Public Private Partnership to Improved Professional Education (EdUP) project, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has united the expertise of the development sector through Swisscontact, the commitment of Ukraine’s Ministry of Education and Science, and the resources of private sector partners, Geberit and Sika. Rather than simply restoring what was lost, EdUP is driving a reimagined VET system that not only addresses the immediate needs, but also sets a strong foundation for the future.

Public Private Partnership to Improved Professional Education in Ukraine
The EdUP project, including its Scale UP initiative, is playing a crucial role in addressing the serious challenges faced by Ukraine's vocational education and training (VET) sector during wartime. The war has destroyed many VET schools and exacerbated a skills shortage that affects several sectors, despite employers' willingness to offer competitive wages and resources. EdUP aims to rebuild and improve vocational schools and break stereotypes about vocational graduates. By decentralising training and aligning it with local economic needs, the project will improve the quality of vocational training, attract additional resources, work with the private sector, and modernise education to equip Ukraine's workforce for today's demands.
