22.11.2023
From August to November 2023, a men's 11-a-side football championship took place between Vocational Training Centres and Institutes promoted by Swisscontact. The championship was conceived as a space to strengthen social cohesion, teamwork, solidarity, and friendship within the teams, as well as to generate spaces for exchange and mutual respect.

Four Training Centres took part in this championship, namely Salesianos of Matola Vocational Training Centre, São José of Lhanguene Vocational Training Centre , São Francisco de Assis – Mumemo Medium Technical Vocational Institute - and Alberto Cassimo Vocational Training and Labour Studies Institute in Machava (IFPELAC of Machava).

The championship was organised on an all-against-all system in two rounds. Six rounds were played, three in the first round and another three in the second round. At the end of the six rounds, the two centres with the most points went on to play in the final.

The final between Salesianos of Matola Vocational Training Centre and IFPELAC of Machava took place on 18 November 2023. IFPELAC of Machava won 2 - 0, thus becoming champions of the first edition of this championship.

Salesianos of Matola Vocational Training Centre, the losing finalist, came 2nd, 3rd place was taken by São José of Lhanguene Vocational Training Centre and 4th and last place was taken by São Francisco de Assis – Mumemo Medium Technical Vocational Institute.

The initiative was applauded by the heads of the training centres and institutes that took part and by the young people themselves, as it was three months of socialising and learning, and in the end they recommended holding a second edition in 2024.

This project is financed by the Medicor Foundation, Happel Foundation, and U.W. Linsi-Stiftung, among other donors. It is part of the Swisscontact Development Programme, which is co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
