Since its inception in 2022, EBN has brought together 37 institutions, including government entities, development partners, and projects supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The EBN meetings, held quarterly, serve as a platform for collaboration and learning among stakeholders, allowing them to identify market gaps and opportunities. These gatherings are instrumental in formulating an impactful framework for the entrepreneurial ecosystem roadmap.
The roadmap, currently under development, involves a working group comprising members from Khmer Enterprise, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Oxfam, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), International Labor Organization (ILO), Netherlands Development Organization (SNV), GIZ, and Swisscontact. The working group aims to analyze gaps and opportunities in Cambodia's entrepreneurial ecosystem. The roadmap will help identify the current actors and programs in both the supporting and regulatory functions that would facilitate the growth of startups and growth enterprises through the six stages of the journey of an entrepreneur.
The 8th EBN meeting focused on recapping collective feedback received during the Give a Day events in 2024, sharing updates on the progress of roadmap development, and seeking validation and feedback for further inputs. The agenda included a presentation by the Give a Day Team on the collective feedback of market gaps and opportunities, followed by an update from Swisscontact on the findings from stakeholder interviews, surveys, and focus group discussions. A group discussion was organized to collect information, seek validation, and gather feedback on the updated findings.
Swisscontact shared the progress on the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Roadmap, emphasizing insights from stakeholder engagement activities, including a focus group discussion, key informant interviews, and a survey. These engagements were analyzed to identify key challenges and provide recommendations for the Cambodian entrepreneurial ecosystem. The presentation highlighted 32 challenges and 45 recommendations across six pillars: market, human capital, finance, culture, policy, and support. These challenges and recommendations will be included in the upcoming roadmap, scheduled for completion and publication in early 2025.
The 8th EBN meeting reinforced the network's commitment to developing a comprehensive and actionable entrepreneurial ecosystem roadmap. The collective efforts and insights from stakeholders continue to drive the vision of a thriving entrepreneurial landscape in Cambodia.
