SIPPO contributes to promote the Virtual Business Roundtable of the Chocolate Show

The Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) of the Swiss Cooperation – SECO in Peru disseminates commercial activities and actively contributes to the development of capacities of business support organizations – BSOs of the cocoa and chocolate sector, to contribute to the economic development of the country.

Within the framework of these actions, SIPPO in Peru is coordinating the dissemination of business opportunities in alliance with the Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa (SWISSCO), specifically to promote the Business Round of the Sustainable Cocoa Fair organized by PROMPERU, one of the BSO of the Program. Swisscontact is a member of SWISSCO, thus strengthening communication with the institution. Likewise, SIPPO is negotiating with another important BSO Sierra and Selva Exportadora - SSE, the establishment of a strategic alliance with SWISSCO in Peru to join efforts between both organizations to contribute to the cocoa and chocolate sector.

The Latin American Cocoa and Chocolate Show 2022 will be held from July 14 to 17, 2022 in person at the Lima Convention Center-LCC with an important agenda of activities, among which is the Cocoa and Chocolate Forum, in which The international context of the sector, associativity, and access to financing for cocoa producers, the national meeting of women cocoa producers and the integration and development of the cocoa sector in Latin America and the Caribbean will be presented. The Virtual International Business Roundtable organized by PROMPERU will be held from July 11 to 15, under the slogan “Discover the incredible variety of our cocoa and premium chocolate, from different regions of Peru, and contact attractive potential suppliers”. The duration of each appointment will be 40 minutes with the selected buyers. SIPPO and SWISSCO have joined forces to identify potential buyers for this event and have developed promotional flyers in various languages ​​such as English, German, and French.

Notably, the Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa (SWISSCO) encourages collaboration between the cocoa and chocolate industry, the public sector, non-governmental organizations, and research institutes. Together, the members of the Cocoa Platform are actively involved in improving the living conditions of cocoa farmers, protecting natural resources, and promoting biodiversity in cocoa-producing countries. Participation, partnership, and transparency sustain a viable and resilient cocoa value chain for both present and future generations. SWISSCO is publicizing the event among its associates to help increase participation in the Virtual Business Roundtable seeking to reach important international buyers.

SIPPO continues to coordinate with PROMPERU and other partners to establish potential cooperation actions within the mandate of the capacity development program. The program seeks to integrate different partners in a common goal, which is the development of the skills of the staff of the BSOs and integrate them to the possibilities of international trade.

Swiss Import Promotion Programme
The Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) is a well-established mandate of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) within the framework of its economic development cooperation. The programme has been implemented by Swisscontact since 2017 and is now in phase 2 (2021-2025).

The overall objective of SIPPO is to integrate developing and transition countries into world trade. In a facilitation role, SIPPO advises and supports so-called Business Support Organisations (BSOs) in 12 partner countries. Through innovative and targeted export promotion services, BSOs strengthen the export capabilities of companies intending to export and facilitate market access and exports to Switzerland, the EU, and regional markets.
