In an effort to uplift marginalised communities, the BYETS project of Swisscontact has partnered with Educo and e-Learning & Earning Ltd. to deliver ICT training to underprivileged youth in Rajshahi, with a special focus on ethnic minorities and indigenous groups. On October 31st, the three parties officially established a strategic partnership to advance this initiative. This collaboration aims to address skill gaps and provide opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
Bangladesh’s ethnic minority population, comprising approximately 1.6 million people, faces numerous challenges, including limited access to education and skill development opportunities. Indigenous youth struggle with barriers such as geographic isolation, financial constraints, and language differences, significantly limiting their ability to secure formal employment or engage in income-generating activities.
This initiative will facilitate ICT training programmes tailored to the needs of these communities. Educo will mobilise its local networks, including its Educo Club members, to identify and support potential beneficiaries, while e-Learning & Earning Ltd. will ensure the delivery of accessible, market-driven ICT training. The goal is to empower ethnic minority youth with the skills needed to participate in the economy, improving their chances of employment and entrepreneurship.
The initiative underscores BYETS' commitment to inclusivity and sustainable development by ensuring marginalised communities can access opportunities for growth. It represents a critical step toward addressing systemic inequities and creating a more inclusive workforce in Bangladesh.
