On the 27th of July 2023, the BYETS project entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Niche Stitch Limited, a subsidiary of the Mohammadi Group. The signing event marks the commencement of a collaborative effort aimed at implementing a sustainable workplace-based training system at Niche Stitch Limited, an RMG factory of the Mohammadi group. The primary objective of this collaboration is to elevate the productivity of the factory workforce by establishing comprehensive training programs that cater to the demand for skilled labour. BYETS project will undertake several crucial responsibilities, including arranging Training of the Trainers (ToT), Training of the Assessors (ToA), and training of unskilled and semi-skilled workers through consultant or consultancy firm. The project will be conducting ToT for developing in-house master trainers and assessors to ensure that the factory can later continue the program beyond the project timeline.
Through the partnerships with the factories, BYETS will support the RMG factories to upskill and reskill workers which will help to improve their overall productivity. The project aims to assist 50 private sector employers to either improve existing workplace-based training (WBT) systems or set up new ones within their enterprises to upskill and reskill 15,000 workers, particularly women.
Implemented by Swisscontact and funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, BYET's ultimate goal, is to empower 25,000 youth, including 50% women with improved technical, employability, and entrepreneurial skills and link them with income-generating opportunities. The project will intervene across three sectors- RMG, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Agro Processing (AP) and four divisions-Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, and Rajshahi.
