Today marks an important step forward for vocational education in Mozambique with the awarding of Competency-Based Training (CBT) certificates to 360 young graduates from four renowned Professional Training Centers. These institutions have successfully implemented CBT, aligned with the National Agency for Professional Education (ANEP) standards. This recognition ensures that graduates receive certificates officially recognized by the Mozambican government. Swisscontact with its project Skills to Build has contributed to developing the capacities of training centres to implement Competency-Based Training (CBT) and Recognition of Prior Learning.

Certification was awarded to overall 360 youth, namely 193 trainees in the areas of Electrical Installation, 135 in Civil Locksmithing, 22 in Preventive Car Maintenance and 10 in Plumbing. The trainees completed CV2 of the National Vocational Qualifications Framework at the Centros de Formação Profissional Salesiano na Matola, Centro de Formação Profissional São José em Lhanguene, Centro de Formação Profissional das Obras Públicas e Centro de Formação Profissional de Mumemo, all duly accredited by ANEP, in line with quality requirements and ensuring that young people who graduate from these institutions receive certificates recognised by the Mozambican state.

"The training was a life-changing experience. Throughout the course, I acquired not only technical knowledge, but also practical skills that will enable me to face the challenges of the labour market. Now I'm confident and ready to embrace any opportunity that comes my way."

Certification of Trainers for the Recognition of Acquired Skills

Additionally, the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program has certified 16 trainers who are now equipped to assess and certify experienced workers. This certification provides professionals the opportunity to formalize skills acquired on the job, opening doors to new career growth opportunities.

During the ceremony, RPL certificates were awarded to four professionals in auto mechanics and plumbing. Their achievements represent a significant step in strengthening Mozambique’s vocational education system.

"At Swisscontact, we are proud to have contributed to this milestone, working closely with ANEP and the training centers. These state-recognized certificates are a testament to the hard work and commitment of the graduates and trainers, and a symbol of the bright future ahead for technical education in Mozambique."
