An online presence, however, knows almost no boundaries, allowing businesses to reach a global audience and let more people experience made-in-Kosovo products. To ensure Kosovo businesses are visible worldwide, the FEGO project supports enhancing their digital footprint, including developing e-commerce platforms, improving online payment systems, and integrating advanced digital manufacturing processes. By partnering with service providers, FEGO has enabled Apparel sector businesses in Kosovo to establish e-commerce platforms, with 10 businesses supported, streamline online payments - a critical component for export-oriented businesses - and diversify their sales channels. Online payment has been a significant challenge for both the apparel and furniture sectors in Kosovo.
In the past, the FEGO project partnered with Paysera, a money-transferring platform, to help businesses benefit from faster, cheaper financial transfers from the EU and the US. The project is pioneering efforts in digital patternmaking, a critical skill gap in apparel. By supporting a new business owned by a woman with long experience in manual patternmaking, Miranda Zeqiri B.I., the partnership is expected to enhance the quality of the final products and bridge the gap between skilled pattern makers and pattern-making services within the industry. This initiative not only fills a vital skills gap but also enhances product quality and allows designers to efficiently transform their creativity into digital patterns.
Currently, FEGO is working with Growzillas Academy to offer specialized social media management training to up to 30 businesses in the apparel sector, improving their online presence and marketing effectiveness.
In the furniture sector, FEGO collaborated with the Municipality of Prizren and Makerspace Innovation Center Prizren to support an Incubation Program for MSMEs in the Prizren region. This collaborative initiative sought to enhance approximately 14 innovative startups and furniture businesses by developing digital marketing tools, providing guidance, resources, and opportunities for networking, and fostering a sustainable environment for innovation and entrepreneurship.
A key focus of the program was supporting digital transformation, including essential services and capacity building to facilitate the digitalization of operations and networking among participating MSMEs with access to MICP's comprehensive services. Following the efforts to provide MSMEs with new digital channels for promotion and sales, the project also created a digital platform that will be operated by the National Association of Wood Processors of Kosovo (AWPK).
The goal of the platform is to increase the digital visibility and promotion of furniture enterprises, both locally and internationally, with a focus on reaching the diaspora. The platform will be linked with AWPK's social networks and is expected to contribute to the growth of the furniture sector, boost local sales, and enhance promotion in export markets. In the rural tourism sector, the project is revolutionizing tourism promotion for municipalities through digitalization and effective branding strategies.
Custom tourism destination brands have been developed for Kamenica (www.luguiverdhe.com) and Vitia, leveraging cutting-edge technology and digital platforms to attract more tourists and boost local economies. A similar approach has been taken by the project in all three sectors it supports—apparel, furniture, and rural tourism—to provide individual support to companies in enhancing their digital presence and exposure. This ongoing activity throughout the life of the project aims to support MSMEs in creating their brands, improving their digital presence, and enhancing promotion.
