Expanding Impact: Give a Day Provincial Events 2024 Successfully Concludes

As the Give a Day 2024 series drew to a close, the pilot events in the provinces of Siem Reap and Battambang marked a significant milestone in expanding the platform’s reach and impact. A total of five events were held across these provinces, with three in Siem Reap and two in Battambang.

These events attracted 126 participants in Siem Reap and 41 in Battambang. Overall satisfaction ratings demonstrated the platform's effectiveness, with 80% of participants in Siem Reap expressing satisfaction, while Battambang saw an impressive 93%.

The first Give a Day in Siem Reap was held on May 24, 2024, in collaboration with the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC) Siem Reap Chapter. This inaugural event brought together key stakeholders to enhance collaboration and understanding within Siem Reap's entrepreneurial ecosystem. Discussions focused on sharing challenges, identifying solutions, and strategizing for the implementation of entrepreneurial programs tailored to the province’s unique needs.

The series expanded to Battambang with its first event on June 27, 2024, co-organized by Give a Day and Phum Impact Battambang. This event emphasized fostering collaboration, addressing shared challenges, and cultivating a supportive ecosystem for local entrepreneurs, laying the groundwork for sustained impact in the province.

On June 28, 2024, the second Give a Day event in Siem Reap, co-hosted with YEAC’s Siem Reap Chapter, revolved around the theme "Common Challenge, Collaborating Solution." The event focused on identifying common challenges faced by entrepreneurs, brainstorming collaborative solutions, and establishing actionable steps to build capacity and drive business innovation. Discussions also sought to strengthen the collaboration among Entrepreneur Support Organizations (ESOs) to better support local entrepreneurs.

The third Siem Reap event, held on October 18, 2024, and co-hosted by YEAC-Siem Reap Chapter, highlighted "The Three Essential Financial Reports for Business Plan." It provided entrepreneurs with vital knowledge on financial reporting, a cornerstone of effective business planning. This event emphasized tailored support and promoted mentorship and trust-building among ecosystem players to align outcomes with the needs of the entrepreneurial community.

In Battambang, the second event on October 27, 2024, focused on “Designing and Producing Digital Content for SMEs.” Co-organized with Phum Impact Battambang, it aimed to enhance the digital marketing capabilities of local SMEs and grassroots-level ESOs. The event aimed to fostered collaboration and improved the support ecosystem available to SMEs in the province.

The feedback from these provincial events highlights the value of the Give a Day platform. In Siem Reap, 91% of participants indicated their intention to attend future events, while Battambang achieved a perfect score, with 100% of attendees expressing their commitment to return. This overwhelming response underscores the platform’s role in strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems in Cambodia’s provinces.

Building on this momentum, Give a Day plans to host three events in Siem Reap and two in Battambang in 2025, continuing its mission to foster collaboration, share insights, and drive impactful support for entrepreneurs across the country.

The Give a Day event is co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and Khmer Enterprise and co-implemented by Khmer Enterprise and Swisscontact through the Enhancing Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Investments (3Ei) initiative.

The overall goal of the 3Ei is for the private sector to actively contribute to Cambodia's socio-economic development and attain the goals of the SDGs. The achievement of this overall goal will be driven by two outcomes. Outcome 1: Enhanced coordination, and collaboration within the entrepreneurial ecosystem; and Outcome 2: Increased business performance and investments in the ecosystem and impact enterprises.
