The SCP Lao Project, co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), is dedicated to promoting green and inclusive economic growth in Laos. The project focuses on three main areas: strengthening participation in environmental policy development, fostering eco-friendly practices, and enhancing recycling systems alongside green business opportunities.
The key objectives of the IMC meeting included reporting on the implementation progress of the SCP Lao project over the past six months, reviewing lessons learned, identifying challenges, and gathering recommendations from partners. Additionally, the meeting facilitated a donor monitoring visit to assess field progress and provide necessary guidance.
The meeting was attended by 29 participants, including representatives from MoNRE, PoNRE, DoNRE, donors from EU and SDC, as well as the Swisscontact team.
A significant highlight of the meeting was the opportunity for participants to engage with a local waste collection company, which provided insights into their operations and waste management practices in Ngoi District. This engagement is crucial for maintaining a clean and sustainable environment. Furthermore, representatives from the donor community and the Swisscontact team interacted with young female entrepreneurs at Souphanouvong University as part of the Eco-Challenge initiative, promoting innovation and sustainability in local business practices.
Overall, this meeting reaffirmed the commitment to advancing sustainable consumption and production in the Lao PDR, fostering a circular economy, and empowering local communities.
