The limited access to education in her village, Jagoce, Kosovo, and the lack of transportation to the city of Kline made pursuing higher education seem like a distant dream. Her financial stability was fragile, initially relying on monthly social assistance. However, this support stopped when she turned 20, requiring employment for survival.
Efforts to secure work were met with setbacks, leaving Leonita feeling that her minority background played a role. But a turning point arrived when she joined the coaching for employment cycles supported by the Boost Employment project and implemented by the NGO VORAE. Guided by a coach, she improved communication skills vital for engaging with potential employers and presenting herself confidently during interviews.
She took the initiative to contact potential employers directly for the first time, which led to an interview. Despite her initial doubts, she succeeded in the interview and was offered a part-time maintenance position at a city bar.
Yet, Leonita's passion lay in becoming a makeup artist. Her eyes brightened, discussing her dream, and linking it with her maintenance work. "Working here has taught me a lot," Leonita said. "It's a step toward my dream. Just like maintaining this place's beauty, I want to enhance people's beauty through makeup".
With renewed skills and confidence, Leonita's eyes show hope as she embraces a promising future.
