The 2nd Annual Practical Training Conference, “Modern Technologies in the Field of Electricity,” gathered 17 vocational education teachers from across Ukraine, focusing on hands-on technical training and advanced teaching skills to elevate their expertise in the electrical field.

This two-day event balanced practical skill-building with innovative teaching techniques, strengthening instructors’ abilities to prepare students for the modern workforce.

Day One: Mastering Practical Skills

The first day was all about hands-on training, with instructors collaborating in small groups to sharpen critical technical skills. Key sessions included:

  • Live Circuit Breaker Installation: Realistic practice in live circuit breaker installation for authentic, on-the-job experience.
  • Cable Joint Installation in Traditional and VR Formats: Participants compared hands-on installation with VR scenarios, experiencing both real and virtual environments.
  • VR Maintenance Training: Practice in taking Transformer T2 offline for repairs and putting it back into operation.
  • First Aid Training: Life-saving skills like tourniquet application and CPR practice on mannequins.

This applied learning approach enabled instructors to reinforce essential skills and prepare students for real-world challenges in today’s competitive job market.

Day Two: Elevating Teaching Excellence

The second day shifted to pedagogy, focusing on effective teaching techniques that foster engagement and deepen learning:

  • Qualities of an Effective Teacher: Methods for capturing attention and managing group dynamics.
  • Interactive Teaching Strategies: Tools to actively engage students and enhance learning outcomes.

Participants also explored digital tools like Mentimeter and Padlet, learning the importance of using interactive resources and providing constructive feedback.

Conclusion

This conference represents a key milestone in EdUP’s mission to modernize vocational education in Ukraine. By equipping teachers with both practical and teaching skills, EdUP is building a stronger bridge between classroom learning and industry needs, empowering educators to prepare students for success in today’s rapidly evolving job market.
