Swisscontact teams up with Nestlé and the CoHonducafé Foundation to spark attitudinal changes in young coffee farmers, with regards to women economic empowerment and human rights.

Through this joint strategy, at Swisscontact we are strengthening capacities in Human Rights and Women Economic Empowerment, two fundamental pillars of Nestlé's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy and contributing to adapting coffee farmers to changing access to market regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDDD).

To date, through our co-created human rights and women economic empowerment training programmes, we have reached 4,177 coffee farmers.

In this video, meet Waleska Flores, from the community of La Libertad, Comayagua. As a woman head of household, through the comprehensive capacity building programmes implemented by Plan Nescafé in Honduras, she has gained knowledge on farm management. Waleska has also diversified her sources of income and through Swisscontact's courses. She has advanced her knowledge of human rights, child labour prevention and women economic empowerment.

This project is financed by Nestlé. It is part of the Swisscontact Development Programme, which is co-financed by the SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation) within the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
