Although EdUP didn’t win the top prize this time, we are incredibly proud to have Ukraine represented in such an event, and showcase the valuable progress we have made in advancing vocational education. Our participation allowed us to share crucial insights on how we are improving vocational training in the face of extraordinary challenges, such as the ongoing war. We demonstrated the resilience of our educational system and the importance of building strong public-private partnerships to drive the future of Ukraine’s workforce.
Yuliia Yepifanova joined an open dialogue with the jury and other industry speakers, where she emphasized the importance of understanding each party’s expectations in a partnership and moving beyond charity models to foster true, mutually beneficial cooperation. She also fielded questions on graduate employment and shared examples from our training conferences.
Although our project may have appeared more modest in scale compared to the other finalists, we were profoundly moved by the support of the Ukrainians present. Following Yuliia's presentation, many expressed their appreciation for the positive impact EdUP is making on Ukraine's future.
The EdUP project helps to address the challenges faced by Ukraine’s VET sector, especially during wartime. By decentralizing training and aligning it with local economic needs, the project aims to rebuild and improve vocational institutions, breaking stereotypes and vocational graduates. This project not only enhances the qualifications of educators but also ensures that students are well-prepared to meet the demands of modern employers.
EdUP is a Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) project, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Ukraine, supported by private sector partners, Geberit and Sika, and implemented by Swisscontact.
