Swisscontact has launched a new partnership with Nizhyn Agrotechnical Institute to provide practical training and support for women entrepreneurs in agriculture across the Chernihiv region.

On March 25, 2025, Swisscontact Ukraine, within the framework of its Empower AgriWomen project, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Nizhyn Agrotechnical Institute – a leading agricultural educational institution in the Chernihiv region. The main purpose of this collaboration is to enhance practical training opportunities for women entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the potential to conduct hands-on training for women farmers using the Institute’s facilities, including its modern teaching farm. These resources will serve as a training base for women supported by the project, enabling them to gain practical skills in vegetable production, horticulture, livestock farming, and agricultural machinery operations.

In addition to training opportunities, the cooperation also envisions organizing informational and advisory events that will further empower women in agriculture.

The Director of the Institute, Vasyl Lukach, presented a detailed overview of the institution’s capacities and highlighted its readiness to provide a practical foundation for Swisscontact’s initiatives in the region. He emphasized the Institute's commitment to supporting rural development and women's entrepreneurship, especially during wartime and throughout the post-war recovery period.

Poshan B KC, Country Director of Swisscontact Ukraine, underscored the importance of leveraging innovative learning tools to support the effective development of women-led agribusinesses. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with the Institute, recognizing its significant potential as a regional hub for practical agricultural training.
