What helps or prevents students from building a successful career? According to teachers, such factors are internal (such as motivation, goals, and readiness to self-improvement) and external (family support, the condition of the industry and local entrepreneurship). At the same time, well-developed communication and self-presentation skills help students in their careers and significantly increase their chances of success, although they do not substitute the need for quality professional training.
The Public-Private Partnership for Improving Plumbing Education in Ukraine (EdUP) project in partnership with the Career Hub expert platform of the Center for Corporate Social Responsibility has launched a training course “Preparing young people for successful careers”.
Thirty specialists from career development centers and teachers who train plumbers have already joined the course.
The course aims to improve the skills of teachers in working with young people - both in groups and in individual consultations - on career planning, employment, and private entrepreneurship. The training takes place online and will last for five months - from January to May 2022.
The training program combines theoretical and practical tasks with the possibility of communication and exchange of experiences between course participants. It is important that after each of the four modules, teachers complete tasks with students and give feedback.
After the first meeting, which took place on January 12, the participants received a task of drawing up a career plan using SWOT-analysis of personality and SMART goals.
The next training will focus on job search and youth employment.
