07.11.2019
Building and maintaining relationships between schools and industry is one of the objectives of the Swisscontact Sustainable Tourism Education Development/ STED Project.

The Project, via its consortium partner Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern (SHL Switzerland), initiated a Training of Trainers Programme for 21 professionals from the tourism industry in Lombok, Indonesia. The course started in June 2019 with a two-weeks preparatory part, during which participants learned the essentials of being a trainer and had as well the opportunity to practice the lessons learned for the first time. Mr. Bart Ferwerda (SHL managing director) facilitated as the master trainer and sharing his own experiences.

It was extended by each participant delivering three mini lessons based on their expertise at Politeknik Pariwisata Lombok (Lombok’s Tourism Polytechnic) during the months July until October 2019. After the completion of the entire course and the final examination, participants were awarded with a certificate of completion on 31st of October 2019.

Now the successful graduates are ready to apply their newly learned skills at their polytechnic or companies. The training course is seen as a suitable means for addressing the teacher shortages at vocational schools and will be delivered again in the coming years.
