“An ESS coach is like a teacher, we do not judge students, we can only guide them, help them, and inspire them in many different fields.”
Mrs. ManikeoVorakoun wanted to be an Employment Support Services (ESS) coach because as a teacher, she realized the problems for graduates to get jobs. She works as a teacher at Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College of Khammuane province and she saw the VTESS project as a great opportunity for beneficiaries to get training for future jobs and to get employment support, which will help them find jobs and earn income for their families.
“I learned a lot about how the labour marketworks.”
Mrs. SaykhamPhetpanya and her family have often helped children and the poor. And in the past, she has also organised activities to support disadvantaged children and women. So, when she learned that the VTESS project provides disadvantaged people with employment opportunities she was excited to become involved and applied to become an Employment Support Services (ESS) coach in late 2020.
I am pleased and proud to help disadvantaged people gain vocational skills and knowledge.
Mrs. SouphabSichalearn is a dedicated educator with 11 years of teaching experience. She is teaching English at the Integrate Vocational Education Training (IVET) School in Xayaboury Province.
“I want people from disadvantaged groups to find a job.”
Mr. KeoPhongmany works for the Learning for Development Association (LDA) in Oudomxay Province. He is passionate about community development, particularly for people with different disabilities.
“I have learned about people’s lives and realized that there are still many disadvantaged people who need our help.”
Mr. KhamtouKhamphaheuang was inspired to join the VTESS project because of its focus on employment counselling. He is the Deputy Head of the Division of Agriculture at the Integrated Vocational Education Training (IVET) School of SaravaneProvince. "The project builds people's capacity and supports the unemployed to develop themselves so they can find jobs and generate income for their families," he said. "These are the things I'd like to help them out with."
“I have improved my advocacy and communication skills that I had never had a chance to do so before.”
Mr. LiengsysavanhPhetthala is currently in charge of skills development and employment at the Department of Labour and Social Welfare in XiengKhouang Province. He was encouraged to join the group of Employment Support Services (ESS) coaches because it directly complements the mandate of his department. “The project also deals with labour issues which I like,” he said.
