Supported by Switzerland, and implemented by GO4IMPact, initiated by WaterAid and Swisscontact consortium and facilitated by ESDO and Rupantar, the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign brought together communities to unite, fostering dialogue and promising action. The campaign organised events involving representatives from local governments, GoB line agencies, law enforcement agencies, CSOs, youth groups, and communities.
At Bamoin High School & College in Naogaon, students expressed their visions for a safer society through an essay competition.
In Satkhira, a dialogue event brought together local administrations, law enforcement, and community members to strategise on ending gender-based violence. "Women should be as educated as men. Equal opportunities must be created for both boys and girls in the family," said Masruba Ferdous, DDLG, Satkhira. The event concluded with pledges for stronger enforcement of women’s protection laws and awareness-building through youth leaders and journalists.
Women players from Dhamoirhat Green Voice and Badalgachhi football teams broke barriers by stepping onto the field. Despite the long-held social norm that girls playing football is uncommon, the match highlighted the power of women in sports.
The Rosulpur Jubo Shongho of Satkhira municipality, in collaboration with the local community, organised a vibrant Jari Gaan event that blended traditional melodies with a powerful call for equality. The event became a unifying force to aware communities of the importance to end violence against women and girls.
The campaign stands as a powerful reminder that united communities can create lasting change.
