Jashore is one of the oldest municipalities of Bangladesh with almost 3000 citizens visiting the municipality for various services and purposes, daily. Despite having such a large number of people coming to the municipality, the absence of a digitalised service delivery system makes it difficult for the citizens to avail services. To ensure a seamless and accessible service system at the municipality, PRABRIDDHI in collaboration with SELISE is taking the initiative to support the municipality to establish a digital One-Stop Service Centre (OSSC+).
The OSSC shall serve to ensure efficient delivery of municipality services such as registration for birth/death certificates, trade licenses, etc, accessible to all its citizens through one single platform. It shall also contribute to introduction of an efficient data storage system that is expected to result in increased transparency and accountability of the services provided. Following a successful piloting in Jashore. the OSSC concept will be further explored to be replicated across other municipalities in Bangladesh.
Julian A. Weber, Chief Executive Officer of SELISE, and Markus Ehmann, Team Leader of the PRABRIDDHI project of Swisscontact Bangladesh signed the contract. After successful piloting in the Jashore municipality, PRABRIDDHI will explore the feasibility of introducing the OSSC+ concept in other municipalities across Bangladesh.
